People have been using goat milk for centuries to improve skin and enhance beauty. The ancient Egyptians considered a milk bath the ultimate in luxurious living, and Cleopatra bathed regularly in pure milk. Why?

What is in Goat Milk that makes a Goat Milk Soap so different?

Goat Milk contains over 50 nutrients, including the vital vitamins of A, C, B1, B6, B12 and E, minerals, citric acid, amino acids, unsaturated fatty acids, enzymes, and a variety of other nutrients that nourish and revitalize dehydrated skin. Vitamin A slows down the effects of aging, prevents brown spots and thickening of the skin, while Zinc contributes to the reconstruction of collagen fibers, encouraging moisture retention and assisting in maintaining your skin's elasticity. As you can see, The Soap Shed's Goat Milk Soap will literally cover your skin needs from A to Z. :-)

Goat Milk Soap is a Natural Moisturizer

Our handmade goat milk soap is made using fresh mountain goat milk purchased from local farmers. Regular use of our goat milk soap will maintain a moisture balance that results in smoother, softer skin that is less prone to roughness and the formation of lines and wrinkles. The alpha-hydroxy acids found naturally in goat milk have rejuvenating effects on the skins' cells, neutralizing free radicals and slowing the aging process. Why is Goat Milk Soap Brown?

All our Goat Milk Soap will be a rich 'Ocher' color (well, okay, beige or tan), because of the way goat milk fats and protein combines with the lye in the soapmaking process. It makes the sodium salts (soap) made from the organic fatty acids (soap oils) darker. In fact, different breeds of goats have different fat content, which also influences the soap color we get with various soap batches. Our spice and vanilla scents will be the darkest, with our decadent Vanilla Cream practically a dark chocolate color.  And why is a Vanilla soap brown?  Well, that's because the natural color of Vanilla beans is a very dark brown...and we don't use Titanium Dioxide to make vanilla 'white.'
