Seasonal Schedule and Hours
The Soap Shed will open for the 2009 season on Saturday, May 9th, and be open 7-days-a-week through the end of October.
The Soap Shed is open year round 24/7 for web orders, and you may also order by phone or mail.
Our physical retail store follows a seasonal schedule typical of Blue Ridge mountain businesses, being open May through October each year.
From December until early May, we are open only by appointment or chance. Saturday is the most typical day for appointments to shop. So if you're planning to be in town on a weekend over the Winter, Saturday is a good day to try and plan a visit to the store.
Located in the Blue Ridge Mountains, The Soap Shed retail store is physically located just off the Blue Ridge Parkway at Milepost 331 in Spruce Pine, North Carolina, the same place where we make our soap. Please make a note that our location is 3 miles away from our previous store location in Little Switzerland, North Carolina. Little Switzerland is at Parkway Milepost 334, we're off Milepost 331, so we're right down the road.
Although we are technically in the 'Sunny South', weather at this elevation is unpredictable, and Winters can be snowy and icy. Therefore, like most tourist-oriented businesses in the mountains of western North Carolina, we are open on a seasonal schedule during warmer months.
We are open to the public from the beginning of May through October 31st, from 10-5 every day, with soapmaking demonstrations frequently offered on weekends.
Web and mail orders, as well as wholesale orders, are welcome year round.
If you'll be visiting the Blue Ridge at any other time and would like to come see us, we'd be happy to have you come by. However, we encourage you to call ahead and make an appointment to shop during Winter months, so you won't be disappointed.
November 1st is the last day we will operate on our 7-day-a-week schedule for 2009. After that point, please call for an appointment or take a chance if you want to stop by.
We are usually open for holiday shopping during November and December on Saturdays from 10-4 because of shopping appointments. Please call us tollfree at 877-404-SOAP to set an appointment for yourself or your family, or to let us know you are on the way. Since the holiday season is our busiest mail order & web order time, we are usually here every weekday packing orders. However, we encourage you to call ahead on weekdays in order to avoid disappointing you.
