Guide to The New Site

Hey! Where did the old Soap Shed site go?

As you've noticed - we've undergone a HUGE transformation. After many years, we've revamped our website! Complete with a slide show of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, just for you, at the top of every page you visit.

All the same stuff is here, it's just easier to find. Our new shopping cart comes with a whole lot of new 'bells and whistles' that will allow us to provide you with better customer service. Customer accounts, easy re-orders, Search ability, even a Wish List. You'll be able to order Gift Certificates online, or use coupons you receive from us via email or at our North Carolina store online. You'll even receive 'points' for each order that you can redeem as dollars on your future orders.

Here's your basic road map to our new site. Just three things you need to know.

Now, we'll take you on a guided tour of each section!

1. Products are listed down the left side.

Go ahead and look on the left side. All our soaps are in their usual categories, like the first one listed on the left, Mountain Scents. Just click on 'Mountain Scents' and all the soaps we group under the 'Mountain Scents' umbrella will be listed in the middle of the page - and in alphabetical order no less! How's that for an improvement? We've even got a complete alphabetical listing of all our products.

Click on one of the individual soaps, let's say, Appalachian Sunrise because it's first. You'll see that the individual product information for Appalachian Sunrise appears in the middle of the page, with a photo and all ordering options available.

All you have to do is click on the line that says 'Naked Bar - $4.00' and a five-line 'menu' with all your options will appear for you: Naked bars, wrapped bars, five-bar discounts, and even our Two-Pound logs are available online now! Click on the product(s) you want, and click 'Add To Cart'. It's that easy!

Even if you don't remember a particular soap's name, but remember what it had in it - peppermint, for example - you'll be able to find it. You can just put 'peppermint' in our search box and every soap we make with peppermint will appear for you to read about so you can select the right one.

2. Information about The Soap Shed is along the top.

Practically anything you could ever want to know about the Soap Shed or our website is here. Take your mouse and run it across the menu at the top. You'll see a series of boxes open up underneath each main heading. When the darker purple matches up with the information you want to read about, click your mouse. That page of information will appear for you in the center.

Whether you want to learn more about our ingredients, read our FAQ, look at other customer testimonials or get travel directions to our shop in North Carolina, you'll find what you need in the menu across the top of each page.

3. Shopping cart and account information is on the right.

Now here's where most of the new bells and whistles are!

Shopping Cart: Your shopping cart is pretty much what you're used to. You'll still see how many items and how much $$ you have in there and once you've added something, the View Cart/Checkout link will appear.

Accounts: You will see a "Login" link in the upper right hand side of the cart, in the purple menu. Yep, that's it! If you click on that, you'll be taken to your login screen. If you've not yet registered, you'll be able to do so there AND if you've lost your password you'll also be able to retrieve it via that page!

Once you're logged in, you'll notice that instead of saying LOGIN, it now says YOUR ACCOUNT. If you click there again, you'll find all your account links such as wish list, gift registry, and order history. It's pretty simple! Go give it a try and you'll see what we mean.

Why should I register to have an account?

This is quite important, because if you don't register for an account, all the new bells and whistles on this site won't matter!

If you register to establish an account, our new website will maintain a history of your orders online for you. When you're out of soap again and need to re-order, you just access your account, call up your last order or two, and click to easily re-order your favorites. Your favorites are automatically put into your shopping cart and you can quickly checkout. All your shipping information will be kept on file, so you don't have to re-type it. All you have to do is type in your credit card information and you're done.

Our Points Program

By having an account where you - and we - can keep track of your orders, you also can take advantage of our Points program.

You will accumulate 'points' based on the size of your orders - the larger your orders, the more points you receive. On your next order, or any future orders, you can choose to convert those points into dollars toward your order total. Or you save them until later. It's your choice. They're your reward points. You'll even get reward points for referring people to the Soap Shed and helping our business grow. It's our way of saying 'Thank you!'

Shipping

Shipping charges will now be calculated according to your zip code or country code. If your package can ship within the USA via US Priority Mail for less than $7.00, you'll pay actual cost, not $7.00 - which is great if you want to send a couple bars or small sampler. But you'll never pay more than $7.00 for a US delivery via Mail, even if you buy 100 bars. We'll pick up the difference. That's one thing that isn't changing!

You can choose alternative shipping method for US deliveries. If you need your shipment sent overnight or via 2nd Day Air, you will now have that option. No, we won't pay for those extra shipping charges as part of the $7.00 shipping deal via US Postal Service that provides delivery in 3-4 days. But there are times we all need to rush a gift somewhere, and now you'll can choose that added service.

And our international customers will now have three Global postal options. One will have your soap delivered within a few days, a second provides for 6-10 day delivery, as well as the old standby Parcel Post that promises 4-6 weeks. So now - the choice will be yours.

Ok, what is this Wish List thing?

We're SO excited about this! You can now add any product we sell to a "wish list" that you can save for later ordering. OR you can send the entire list to anyone you specify in the hopes that they might purchase something from it for you! There's an 'Add To Wish List' button right below the 'Add To Cart' button.
